When I received the Belkin Wireless N+ Router, I set it up it right in front of a window in my house. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CEYYFK/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title) Setup was super easy and I turned on 802.11b/g/n to all transmit/receive at the same time. I also purchased a Belkin Wireless N+ 802.11n USB Adapter (Black) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CF2TYC/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title) and installed it in my brand new Dell laptop. The combination worked flawlessly, setup was super easy, and the security was a snap to set up.

br /I received at least four lights all over our one story house including 80' away through a number of walls. My new laptop's built-in N-card/antenna did not work nearly as well as the Belkin N+ adapter.

br /I took the laptop and the Belkin N+ Adapter for a walk while keeping the window and router in my line of sight. At approximately 325' from the router, I still had full signal strength! I finally lost the signal about 380' feet from the router.

br /I also tried the Belkin adapter with a 7-year old, 512Mb ram HP laptop and got similar results - full signal at 325'.

Works so far: but then I've only just installed the thing. We'll see. But my main reason for commenting at this early point is to offer an installation tip or two for folks that are using a Windows 7 operating system: (1) when your model F5D8055 Belkin USB Adapter arrives, look on the back of the USB portion and note whether it is version 1 or 2. If it is v.2 it may say v.2010. Assuming you have a router but are not connected to the Internet, connect one end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of your PC and connect the other end into the Ethernet port on the back of your router. (Any router should work. Mine is a Linksys WRT160N). Then use Internet Explorer or whichever browser you have and connect to the Internet and type in the address bar [...] and when you arrive at that site, search for the driver for the version of adapter that you received. Once found, download it. (2) Now, you're ready to install the adapter. DO NOT USE THE CD that came with the adapter. It does not contain the Windows 7 driver for the adapter. Rather, click on the driver you've downloaded then click on Vista, to install Vista. The downloaded driver should then automatically install the Windows 7 driver. You may also need to go to the Control Panel then to the Network and Sharing Center and click on Change Adapter Settings. You should see the Belkin Adapter there. Right click it and click Connect. At this point, the product should install. If it does not, don't bother with the Belkin Chat support. It's as bad as HP's. Rather, call Belkin support at 1-800-223-5546. Hope this helps.

Belkin Wireless N+ USB adapter is easy to install and works. I got both adapters to work in 10 minutes and there were no further adjustments needed. My kids need the Internet to work at all hours and I did not want to run network cables to the second story. I really enjoy the 6' cable that comes connected to the USB stand so I can place the adapter closer to my ATT U-Verse unit. Signal strength is really strong and no dropped connections when going to MySpace type sites. There are less expensive USB adapters units out there but they do not deliver the quality that this has. This is money well spent.

Belkin Wireless N+ 802.11n Router (Black)
br /This was purchased to replace internal pc card wireless.
br /The included software required XP having the Wireless net zero service installed.
br /As a result, the Belkin utility did not find any wireless connections.
br /The Belkin utility has no way to recover from an installation error.
br /After activating the wireless service, I was able to use the adapter, very well using the XP service.
br /I have an alternate XP disk on my computer on which the Belkin utility works fine.
br /The adapter show a s strong signal on my network and detects up to14 other wireless networks, some of usable strength.
br /I have purchased a new computer and will not need to buy another wireless card.
