Worked for me! March 27, 2009 S. Anderson (California) 375 out of 381 found this review helpful
I didn't buy my extended warranty when I bought my kindle but after receiving it and feeling it in my hands, I felt the need to buy the extended warranty. The product felt slippery in my hands. So I bought it and i'm glad I did. Less than two weeks later, my Kindle fell off a counter onto a tile floor. It cracked the screen and would not function. 45 minutes later, I called the support number and after 5 minutes, they were shipping me a new kindle.

br /I got my new kindle in less than 48 hours after it hit the floor. No questions, no send it in and we'll decide if we will repair it, no hassles whatsoever!
br /
br /I have read other reviews here and just wanted to say that 65 bucks to replace a device that I broke is worth it. I had my kindle for about a month and if i had not bought the extended warranty, i would be sitting here with a 350 dollar paperweight.

br /Thanks Amazon!

This is extending the Amazon warranty against product defects for ONE year NOT two years as it runs parallel to Amazons original one year warranty. The benefit of paying for this warranty is if you are like me and need accident protection for your device. The original amazon warranty does not protect against drops, spills, adventurous two year olds, etc...., where as this one does. So if you're clumsy, or seem to have bad luck with electronic devices, the $65 dollars is probably worth the cost. Also keep in mind that the warranty is ONLY valid in the US.
Kindle Warrenty was fabulous! April 30, 2009 C. McCague (Atlanta, GA) 43 out of 43 found this review helpful
I ordered the warrenty and when we stepped on the Kindle 2 (was in the leather case and, yes the cover's top opened!) we reported the problem.

br /The service rep was very helpful and made it easy to report the problem. Within a few minutes, we had an email from Amazon with a mailing label for the return of my broken Kindle 2.
br /
br /Now, 3 days later, I already have the new Kindle 2 in my hand. Wow!!!
br /
br /I couldn't be more pleased with the service on this Warrenty.

br /Congratulations to Amazon for setting up such a great customer experience.

Kindle 2 Extended Warranty March 10, 2009 PinkPearl (3rdRockFromSun) 192 out of 212 found this review helpful
After hesitating, rethinking and deciding if I should or should not purchase the extended warranty, I decided in favor of it, and although I have not yet received my extended warranty package via snail mail, I will tell you why I purchased it. After telephoning my credit card company for which I purchased the Kindle 2 on, I found out they do not cover any warranty on the device. Nada...NOTHING! I do hold a couple of different credit cards, but the one that does cover limited warranty was unfortunately not the one I ordered my Kindle 2 on. Actually, I did not even know some credit cards had such warranties, until I read some reviews here.
br /
br /I have read consumer reports that extended warranties are not necessary, and in the past, I've found that to be true. So what I would suggest to others before deciding, is to telephone your credit card carrier and ask them, but keep in mind, that under the economic slump today, all credit card companies are rapidly changing their policies in less favor of the credit card holder. So, you may want to consider that, and purchase the extended warranty in this case, for added peace of mind.
br /
br /The deciding factor for me however, was the one drop accidental damage coverage, which for that alone is worth the $[...] dollars for a replacement, vs. the otherwise $[...] bucks up front one would have to dish out with the one year warranty alone.
br /
br /Finally, I had some questions, so I telephoned the extended warranty companies customer service dept. with my questions, and they were very kind and informative.
br /
br /Normally, for reasons stated above, I don't purchase extended warranties, but this time I did. As far as the company possibly going out of business like someone else mentioned...well, I suppose that could happen, but that can happen with any company today...even Amazon! Hope not, but I am not going to worry about the sky falling, until I see the clouds getting too close for comfort.
Not a bad idea if you read what you get October 20, 2009 V. Bell 111 out of 121 found this review helpful
For starters, this is not a warranty from Amazon - it is from a third party so Amazon has nothing to do with it.
br /
br /It is a two year extended warranty because, it not only adds one year to the warranty Amazon gives for normal use damage, it also gives Accidental damage protection (for if you drop it or spill on it or whatever) for the two years. I know at some point I will probably drop my Kindle or spill something on it and I would much rather pay 65 now then 300 for a new Kindle.
br /
br /Since it is from a third party and not Amazon, I bet they will be adding an extended warranty for the international at some point, if they can work out how to do the returns and replacements, since you do have to have certain licenses to send electronics out of the country.
